PRINCE RUPERT CHAMBER ENDORSES DECISION BY PACIFIC NORTHWEST LNG

PRINCE RUPERT  – The Prince Rupert & District Chamber of Commerce enthusiastically welcomed yesterday’s announcement by Pacific Northwest LNG on a final investment decision to move forward with the construction of an LNG terminal on Lelu Island.

“The local business community will definitely benefit from the confidence shown by Pacific Northwest LNG in B.C.’s growing natural-gas economy,” said Rosa Miller, President of the Chamber.

Although there are two main conditions attached to the final investment decision, and still work to be done, Miller said the company has worked hard to ensure all stakeholders have been engaged through its engineering and consultation processes so far.

“With the potential to create thousands of jobs over the next few years, all aspects of the local economy will be strengthened by this project,” she said. “This is a very good day for Prince Rupert.”
