This evening, November 6th the Prince Rupert and District Chamber of Commerce and Prince Rupert Labour Council will be hosting the All Candidates Debate for the November 16 City Council By-Election. 

The event will be held at the Lester Centre for the Arts with doors opening at 6:30pm and the opening comments beginning at 7pm.

6:30pm – Candidates to draw randomly for introduction order, go over housekeeping issues with moderator

7:00-7:05pm – Moderators Welcome, go over event agenda and rules

7:05-7:20pm – Two minute introduction by each candidate

7:20-7:35pm – Opening Question #1 (see below) each candidate has two minutes to respond

7:35-7:50pm – Opening Question #2 (see below) each candidate has two minutes to respond

7:50-8:00pm – Refreshment Break

8:00-8:30pm – Questions from the floor – questions to be no more than 1 minute maximum, each    candidate has 1 minute to respond

8:30-8:40pm – Candidates Closing remarks, 1 minute each reverse order of opening remarks

8:40-8:45pm – Moderator Closes Forum


Opening Questions:
  1. Prince Rupert, like other communities in northwest BC, is preparing for the pending growth from new development. What do you believe city council should do to address the infrastructural/operational/financial needs of our community to cope going forward?
  2. How do you plan to work with council to develop relationships with big industry (ie LNG) and small business to ensure community benefit and in keeping with the Prince Rupert Community Plan?
